W-2 Form.

A W-2 is a form that shows the number of wages you have received annually. It must also show all the taxes that were withheld from you at a certain time. With this form, you can file your annual U.S. tax return.

Your employer must send it to you, provided you worked in the U.S. during the past year.

Form 1099.

This form is used to report income from self-employment, as well as profit from interests and dividends. Government payments are also included.

You should know that this form is composed of some documents that the IRS takes into account, they are called Information Returns. There are other forms, in this one, you report the variety of types of income.

What to do to file your taxes? Except for your salary, which is paid by your employer. Your employer or the company you work for must fill out the 1099 form. It must be sent to you by January 31.

Form 1099-INT must be filed in the following cases:

This form is for individuals who paid amounts that are reportable in boxes: 1, 3 and 8 of at least $10.00.

It is also useful for individuals who have had any taxes withheld and paid out of the country as interest.

If the person who made the withholding did not make a federal income tax refund as required by withholding rules.

Receipts for charitable donations, medical and itemized business expenses.

What to do to file your taxes? If you make charitable donations to qualified organizations; these may be deductible if you itemize the deductions which should be reflected on Schedule A, Form 1040.

If you want to know if the organization to which you made the donation qualifies as a charitable organization to deduct the amount of tax, you can search among the tax-exempt organizations.

In the case of medical expenses. The IRS allows taxpayers to deduct qualified medical expenses annually in excess of 7.5 percent of adjusted gross income (AGI).

Generally speaking, you would not be able to deduct personal expenses on your tax return. However, if you incurred an expense for business purposes, you can deduct this amount.

We always recommend to save yourself the hassle of preparing  your taxes on your own and hire a tax professional to prepare a beneficial tax return without any issues.
